Hey y'all! I don't post here much. It's a combination of a number of factors. For one, it's a personal blog in the strictest sense; I expect that if this is read at all, this is read by friends of mine, most of whom I'm already in somewhat frequent contact with. Many of my peeps already know what's up with me, so putting them down on the blog just seems overkill. Otherwise, I don't post around a particular topic or for an audience greater than that.
I could be wrong about this. I had an IM conversation with a friend this morning (hi, Angel!) who I hadn't spoken to in quite awhile. Among other things, she said 'You haven't updated your blog!' So, that's someone who I didn't know was watching out for me. Anyone who shows up here and sees I haven't updated in a while, contact me! The info's in the sidebar.
You could be here because you googled 'Tim Cosgrove.' I will admit, a bit shamefully, that I have been known to google people out of my past to pass the time. It's not stalking, I swear! It's just friendly interest. Or procrastination. If that's the case, feel free to say hi! Again, info is to the left. I'm a big fan of the internet's ability to put people who've long been out of contact back in touch with each other. I'm a big fan of the internet in general, but that's neither here nor there.
Currently it seems like a lot of the microcontact what-is-Tim-up-to stuff is taken care of by Facebook. Anyone who wants a glimpse into my world can look at my little news feed and see that I've been playing Scrabulous a fair bit, and read pithy little status messages. "Tim is organizing his bookshelf by spine color." (I was, true.) "Tim realized he is too old to wear medium T-shirts." "Tim resents QWERTYism." All these things are or were true at the time of writing. But, they don't really add up to much of a story, especially since a) what I tend to do with my statuses is be cute and entertaining and b) it's essentially in the public record, and so there's only so much you can talk about.
More to the point, Facebook doesn't have much of a way to communicate larger chunks of information with the public, or your public. You could post to your own Wall I suppose, but most people tend not to use the Wall that way and wouldn't think to look there. So, writing here might have some kind of function after all.
Forgive me while I think out loud at you. But hey, it's something right?
Anyway, what's happened lately, in the no-longer-so-new year? I went to Thailand for 3 weeks, which was a blast. Sort of a quiet, contemplative blast, but good fun nevertheless. I traveled alone, which gave me maybe too much time to think. I also met some nice people along the way.
I learned to scuba dive, partly before but mostly while in Thailand. I saw a lot of amazing creatures down there. I'm looking forward to going diving again, soon. And next time I'm bringing a camera, because it's a crime that I have no photos from the best parts of my trip. I enjoy the diving a lot. I'm looking forward to getting in the water again soon, and I hope to get my Rescue Diver certification before the end of summer.
My best friend got married. The week or two leading up to that was really stressful (and you should have seen the two of them, I was barely involved), but it was also one of the most fun weddings I've been to. Lots of dancing, lots of fun, very informal yet very festive.
I have a new favorite bar night, for what it's worth. Maybe not super interesting :)
So, that's pretty much what's been going on. And I've had a couple colds this year which have knocked me on my butt and made me have fewer stories to tell. But, this latest one is just about clearing up, so I hope I'll have more to put here soon.
